It’s interesting that certain brands evoke a specific style of snus to me. For example, General will always be standard unflavored snus, Thunder will be strong artificial flavors, and Jakobsson’s will, in my eyes always be associated with more natural flavors like wintergreen and melon.
Every once in a while, though, a brand will switch things up, as is the case here: and the result was quite good! Jakobsson’s Classic is more than an acceptable contender against General White. Its not as interesting as Roda Lacket or as powerful as General’s Onyx but it offers a nice, consistent snus portion with great portion design and feel. Think of it like your favorite slippers – they won’t attract any attention but they’re damn comfortable all the same.
I can’t say I would recommend this snus for everyone. It’s lacking in terms of flavor complexity, and 9 mg just isn’t enough oomph (for me at least) to really enjoy it for the nicotine hit. If I get it again, I will definitely enjoy it, but I can’t say I would seek it out for any particular quality, and to me that is its biggest downfall. It just doesn’t grab me one way or another.
Conclusion: A pleasant standard classic Swedish snus. Not very exciting in terms of flavor or nicotine but well balanced and consistent. Worth a try if you happen to come across it.
