Oh sweet sweet licorice! If only candy licorice tasted as good as this snus. As my wife can attest, I am a huge fan of classic black licorice, and Oden’s offering does not dissapoint on the flavor profile. It’s reminiscent of the “Panda” brand of soft licorice, with a touch of aniseed that really brings home my childhood (with the addition of nicotine of course!).
This is one of the few snus portions were I wish there was more drip, but that may just be me. The juice is frankly delicious and I find myself enjoying the taste more than the average dose of nicotine it offers. Interestingly, compared to Oden’s Cold it differs vastly in terms of the way one experiences the initial hit of nicotine. Whilst the mint snus burns, kicking your lip into submission, the licorice ebbs and flows very, very slowly. From the moment you place it in, it doesn’t really grab you in terms of strength. As a matter of fact, I would say it’s pretty damn subtle, which is surprising for a flavor like licorice, as licorice tends to be perceived as very in your face and abrasive for a flavor.
As you leave it in, it does build up. After about 40 minutes it does take over your taste buds, which leaves me perfectly content with this snus.
When I pick up the extreme version of Oden’s Lakrits, I will update to tell if I like it just as much. If I had to guess, I would say that the nicotine would take away from the flavor somewhat, but I can always hope to be wrong.
Conclusion: Yum. If you like black licorice at all, you will definitely like this.
