I deeply enjoyed trying Skruf Stark snus, and for more than its actual taste. First and foremost, Skruf is an independent producer of snus, which is a rarity in this industry, as the snus industry is heavily dominated by only a few big players. Secondly, the advertising, can, and general style of Skruf is unique and modern. It’s nice to have a more “edgy” player in the game.
And finally, the snus just tastes damn good. It’s advertised as strong/stark, which is definitely true. I would say it’s pushing the upper ranks of strong strength portions; many other manufactures of “strong” snus don’t jack up the nicotine like Skruf do. For example, Jakobssons Strong is a mere 9 mg of nicotine, nothing in comparison to the 14 mg Skruf brings home.
Needless to say, I definitely approve of this one.
In my mind strong snus should be, well… strong. A lot of snus manufacturers use very aggressive branding, but not many deliver on what they advertise. Skruf hits the nail on the head. Their snus is what it says it is: it’s for sure not extreme, but is a very well balanced strong.
The flavor is pleasantly sharp with some herbal undertones. You can definitely taste (and savor) the rose oil without having to worry about too much drip. From start to finish the flavors meld solidly. At no moment do you think you’ll need to wash the taste down with a beverage, as so many stark/extra stark portions are prone to make you feel like doing.
Conclusion: without a doubt you should give this a shot. It’s balanced, features relatively high nicotine, and just has a really nice taste overall. Not only that, but they’re an independent manufacturer, which should be supported as a form of encouragement. If the snus community doesn’t support independent manufactures, we can’t expect other small companies to start up; and small companies are good, because they help bring more variety to the table.
